Crowns
Crowns can be used to enhance your smile, by whitening, reshaping, and realigning existing teeth. A crown is a permanent covering that fits over the original tooth and preserves its function in the mouth. Crowns can be made of porcelain, gold and other materials. Porcelain crowns typically have the most realistic appearance.
Veneers
A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain that is bonded on the tooth to improve its appearance. A minimal, or sometimes no, amount of tooth structure is removed from the front surface of the tooth and then the veneer is bonded onto the tooth. It is one of the simplest ways to improve the esthetics of your smile!
Invisalign®
Invisalign is the virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces, using a series of clear, removable aligners to straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets. You wear each set of clear aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position your dentist has prescribed. You'll visit your dentist about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from person to person.
How does Invisalign work?
Dr. Carlson will utilize 3D computer imaging technology to demonstrate the complete treatment plan from the initial position to the final desired position. This imaging technology is then used to design an individualized series of custom-made aligners. The patient wears the aligner for about two weeks while the teeth move incrementally. After two weeks, the current aligner is replaced with the next one until the final position is achieved.
Is Invisalign for me?
Invisalign can be used to treat the vast majority of common problems for adults and teens. Whether your smile needs minor improvements or more extensive adjustments, Invisalign can certainly help. It's successful in treating overly crowded or widely spaced teeth. It can also relieve more complex issues, including overbites, underbites and even crossbites. In fact, Dr. Carlson can use Invisalign clear aligners in all or part of just about any treatment plan. Look your best during treatment. Invisalign is clear and practically invisible, so nothing gets in the way of your new smile. No wonder Invisalign is the choice of over 500,000 people.
Less treatment time
A typical Invisalign case takes about a year from start to finish. You'll see your doctor every month or two to see how you're progressing. Every few visits, you'll be given additional aligners to continue your treatment. Commonly, the number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but treatment time and the number of aligners will vary from case to case.
What do aligners look like?
If you've ever seen clear tooth-whitening trays, that should give you a good idea of what the aligners look like. Invisalign aligners are custom-made to fit and move your teeth.
Invisible. And comfortable
Invisalign is a virtually invisible solution. So you won't draw undue attention to your mouth while in treatment. In fact, virtually no one will know you're wearing them unless you tell. Comfortable to wear, our aligners are also removable so you can eat, drink, brush, and floss as usual.
Will the treatment be painful?
Each time you change to a new aligner, there may be some temporary discomfort while your teeth adjust to their new position. This is completely normal, and is a good sign that the treatment is working.
Will wearing Invisalign aligners affect my speech?
Some people are affected more than others, but most adjust in a short period of time to the feeling of the aligners and do not have permanent changes in their speech.
How often will I have to wear my aligners?
Invisalign only works while you're wearing the aligners. It's recommended that you wear your aligners full-time, day and night, except to eat, brush, and floss your teeth.
Does insurance cover Invisalign?
Any insurance plan that covers orthodontics should cover Invisalign. If your dental plan covers orthodontic treatment, you may also qualify for Invisalign. Today’s Orthodontics (Traditional Braces)
We offer a full range of orthodontic services to our patients---all in one convenient location---including traditional orthodontic braces with our on-staff Orthodontist specialist.
There are many reasons why a dentist may recommend orthodontic treatment. It is used to correct a malocclusion (bad bite), a condition caused by crowded, crooked or protruding teeth; teeth that are out of alignment; or jaws that do not meet properly. Malocclusion may be inherited, or it may be the result of thumb sucking, the premature loss of teeth or an accident.
Correcting the problem can result in better oral health because crooked and crowded teeth can make daily oral hygiene difficult. Over time, this may lead to caries (tooth decay), gingival (gum) disease, and possibly tooth loss. An improper bite can interfere with chewing and speaking, cause abnormal wear to tooth enamel and lead to problems with the jaw joints.
Orthodontic treatment often is more comfortable and takes less time than it did years ago. Braces (also called “orthodontic appliances”) can be as inconspicuous as the patient desires. Brackets (the part of the braces that attach to each tooth) are even smaller than in the past.
Brackets are made of ceramic, plastic, metal, or a combination of these materials. Some brackets are clear or tooth-colored. For those who want to show off their braces, there are brackets shaped like hearts and footballs, and elastics (orthodontic rubber-bands) are available in school colors and holiday hues such as red, white and blue. There are gold-plated braces and glow-in-the-dark retainers.
Luckily, today’s braces are more comfortable than ever before. Newer materials apply a constant, gentle force to move teeth and usually require fewer adjustments.
Orthodontic treatment time generally is an estimate that varies from patient to patient. The dentist has specific treatment goals in mind, and treatment typically continues until the goals are achieved.
Whatever method you choose, the result will be worth the wait!
